Game Recap: Military Night vs Fishers Freight | June 27, 2026
It was Military Appreciation Night in Green Bay as they hosted Fishers Freight for a Saturday matinee game. The Blizzard (10-2) hold the league-best record and are coming off a bye week, they also have locked up a spot in the playoffs. The Freight (7-6) are currently the 5th seed and are the first team out of the playoffs if they were to begin today. Fishers came into the game with some momentum after beating Iowa last week. Let's march on towards the action with operation gridiron.
The Fishers offense takes the field first and immediately took command of the trenches by pounding the rock across the goal line on a run by RB Josiah King. The Blizzard answered with boots on the ground themself with a RB Kairee Robinson rushing touchdown. Kicker Andrew Mevis would drill the Deuce. On the ensuing Fishers drive, the Freight train would stall out on 4th down, and the Blizzard would take over already in enemy territory. Green Bay quickly took advantage and Robinson ran in for his second rushing touchdown of the game. Mevis would again knock through another Deuce. Fishers began their next drive and were moving the ball well at the end of the first quarter. Green Bay jumped out in front with a score of 18-7.
The Freight drive would resume in the second stanza, but would be upended when WR Jordan Davis was stripped by DB Dorian Davis and DL Jonathan Ross recovered. Fishers would challenge the play and the call on the field was upheld. QB Liam Thompson operated like a field general on the next drive by completing all three passes he threw and connected with WR Isaac Ross for a 14-yard score. The extended lead was short lived as the Freight responded with a 24-yard passing strike from QB Felix Harper to WR CJ Windham. Green Bay was unphased and answered with another quick TD, this time on a Thompson keeper. The Fishers offense fired back with another quick score on another pass from Harper to Windham. Kicker Calum Sutherland and the Freight opted for a surprise onside kick but the Blizzard were not fooled. Robinson took the great field position and trudged his way through the defense in one play for the trifecta on rushing touchdowns. The score was Green Bay 39-21 at this point. The Fishers offense was keeping pace with Green Bay's as the Freight scored on another passing touchdown from Harper to Jordan Davis. Sutherland would hit the Deuce for his team on the kickoff. Robinson would not be denied as he found the endzone for his fourth touchdown of the game. The second quarter saw an onslaught of points with Fishers scoring 23 in the quarter and Green Bay scored 28. Green Bay led 46-30 at halftime.
The Blizzard took the second half kickoff to the house with a DB Fred Flavors return touchdown. Fishers failed on their first drive by turning it over on 4th down. Green Bay put on an absolute show with their ground invasion throughout the game, and their next drive was no different as Robinson found the endzone yet again. His fifth time across pay dirt in the game. Mevis took another shot on the ensuing kickoff, banging through his third Deuce of the game. The Freight got back on track as Harper found King for a catch and run touchdown. On the following Blizzard sequence, Thompson snuck across on a keeper for his second rushing touchdown. The Freight raced down the field and RB Dominic Roberto powered his way into the endzone as time expired in the 3rd quarter. Green Bay led 69-44
The final frame began with Green Bay in control and QB Cole Stenstrom dissected the defense before running into the endzone to cap off the drive. The response by Fishers would fall just short as King fumbled the ball on a big hit by Doran Davis, jarring the ball free. DL Ja'Quon Griffin would recover and Stenstrom would rush into the endzone a few plays later for another score. The Freight would put up an answer on a pass from Harper to WR Isaiah Coulter, but it was already too little too late, Green Bay's margin was too wide. The final score was Green Bay 83, Fishers 50.
Fishers falls to a 7-7 record and has a bye next week. They resume play on July 11th when they travel to take on the Quad City Steamwheelers. Mission accomplished for the Blizzard tonight, as they go a perfect 8-0 at home this season and improve to 11-2. Green Bay travels to the Sunshine state next week to tackle the Orlando Pirates on Sunday, July 5th. Kickoff is at 6:30 PM CDT and will be streamed on Yahoo Sports.
