Game Preview: Blizzard at Steamwheelers | June 6, 2026
Another week goes by, and another Blizzard win. Green Bay advances to 9-1 this year after defeating the San Antonio Gunslingers 62-28. This week, they will be matching up with the Quad City Steamwheelers for the third time this season. Despite their record (3-7), Quad City is Green Bay's only loss this year. Quad City had a busy offseason, signing talented players; however, their struggles with consistency are slowly making their playoff hopes disappear. In their last matchup, the Blizzard came out victorious, beating the Steamwheelers 65-40. On Saturday, June 6th, one of the two rival teams will win the season series.
Liam Thompson remains one of the top QB's this season, ranking in the top 5 in passing touchdowns, passing yards, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns. He has earned respect from players and coaches across the league, showing off his dual-threat ability. Helping his talented quarterback in the passing game is receiver Trevon Alexander. Since returning from injury, Alexander has racked up seven touchdowns and 152 total yards in just three games. Alexander sits in sixth in the league in receiving touchdowns. Another aspect of this dynamic offense has been the rushing game. Kairee Robinson, in the last two games, has rushed for 130 yards and added five total touchdowns, including one receiving touchdown. Last week, Robinson had a total of 109 yards and five touchdowns. This incredible performance not only earned him the Blizzard Fan Vote Player of the Game but also the Week 12 IFL Offensive Player of the Week.
Shifting to the defensive side of the Blizzard, it is no surprise that this defensive front continues to terrorize offenses. Last week against the Gunslingers, the running game was non-existent, as the Blizzard held them to -12 rushing yards. Jonathan Ross, Allen Henry, and Tevaughn Grant combined for three sacks and four tackles for loss. Green Bay also has two defensive stat leaders with Jonathan Ross continuing his reign as TFL leader with 13 tackles for loss, and Allen Henry leading the league in sacks with 4.5
Despite being near the bottom of the conference, the Steamwheelers are always a tough opponent. The Blizzard have done a good job with Quad City's talented receiver Quian Williams so far, but he is certainly not a player you want to sleep on. Williams is having a great year, ranking in the top five in receiving yards, catches, and touchdowns. On the defensive side of things, Kevin Ransom is top 3 in the league in interceptions this year, including his interception of Liam Thompson the last time he faced Green Bay. Two impact players the Blizzard will need to be mindful of if they want to enter double-digits in the win column.
The Blizzard are on the road again, but fear not, as there will be a watch party available at The Bar on Holmgren Way. But that's not all! This time, the first 40 fans can enjoy a free nacho bar with water and soda provided by Section Yellow. Fans must check in at the Section Yellow table upon arrival to receive the perk, but be sure to check in with the table no matter when you arrive, because there may be other prizes and goodies as well. Kickoff is this Saturday, June 6th. Kick off is set for 7 PM CST. GO BLIZZ!
