Game Preview: Blizzard at Oilers - May 16, 2026
Week 10 of the IFL is here, and the Green Bay Blizzard travel to Tulsa to take on the Oilers. Last year, this was a heavily contested matchup, and it is expected to be the same this week. Despite their roster of talented players, the Oilers find themselves with only two wins, along with being winless in the Eastern Conference. They will be playing hard to get themselves back in the win column. The Blizzard, on the other hand, find themselves in a great spot as they extend their winning streak after beating the Steamwheelers 65-40 last week. With Green Bay's success on both sides of the ball so far this season, the Oilers will have a test for sure.
Starting with the Blizzard, their passing attack remains at the top. Despite throwing two interceptions last week, QB Liam Thompson still had 6 total touchdowns in the victory over the Quad City Steamwheelers. Terrell Carey and Draysean Hudson lead the pack after putting up over 50 receiving yards and one or more touchdowns as the receiving corps refuses to slow down. Even after returning from injury, Trevon Alexander had a great game with 35 total yards and 2 touchdowns. Every week, a new leader emerges with this receiving group. Who will have the big game this week? We will have to watch to find out. Defensively, the Blizzard had a feast, forcing five total fumbles and snagging an interception as well. Alongside those turnovers, Brian Lee Jr., Jonathan Ross, and Allen Henry combined for a total of five tackles for loss and one sack. Jonathan Ross remains the tackle for a loss leader, and this defense continues to threaten offenses around the league. Shifting to the secondary, Franky West Jr. snagged an interception, along with racking up eight tackles. He, and with the Blizzard secondary, kept one of the league's scariest receivers, Quian Williams, out of the end zone last week. They will have a test this week as they face another elite offense.
If the Blizzard want to continue their winning streak, they will need to be aware of some impact players for the Oilers. Starting with the leader at the helm, TJ Edwards. Edwards had an elite season a year ago, and if not for injury, the one-time IFL MVP would have been in the MVP conversation once again. He remains one of the top QBs in the game, ranking in the top five in passing yards, completions, and touchdowns. He is a fairly mobile quarterback as well, ranking in the top 12 in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. Edwards is not the only one racking up yards and touchdowns on this offense. Wide receiver Jerminic Smith Sr. recently secured the top spot in the league for receiving yards. He is also first in receptions and yards per game and is second in the league in receiving touchdowns. The Blizzard secondary will need to keep yet another elite QB-receiver duo in check this week.
The Blizzard are on the road again, which means they will be hosting another watch party. This week, the watch party will be held at the Holiday Inn & Suites Green Bay Stadium by IHG. The watch party will be in the hotel's restaurant and bar. Catch the game on Overnght.com or join fellow Blizzard fans and staff to cheer the team on. Planning to go to the game?
