Green Bay Blizzard Sign Defensive Back Klayton Batten For The 2026 Season
The Green Bay Blizzard have officially signed defensive back Klayton Batten for the 2026 season.
With the 2026 regular season in its final stretch, the Green Bay Blizzard add more depth to the defense. Klayton Batten (5-10, 190) joins the team for his first year in the IFL. The Waldorf, Maryland, native will need to learn the indoor game quickly to help his team compete; however, he has reason to be confident.
Before coming to Green Bay, Batten played for Shepherd University from 2020 to 2025. Over those seasons, the DB appeared in 42 games and recorded 142 tackles, four and a half tackles for loss, ten interceptions, 26 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He also contributed as a punt returner, adding 193 yards and one touchdown on 17 attempts. Batten's 2025 season was his most successful; he led the team in interceptions and was selected for various honors, including Second Team AP Division II All-American, Second Team AFCA Division II All-American, First Team D2CCA All-Region One DB, First Team All-PSAC East RS, Division II Elite 100 Team, and several others.
Although Batten will be a rookie in the IFL, he has shown a huge leap in his ability over the last few years. Now, under the defensive-minded Blizzard Head Coach and GM Corey Roberson, Batten may take another leap as a professional. Green Bay travels to Orlando to take on the Pirates for a July 5 Sunday night game. The Pirates will be Batten's first test, as the team is currently in the top five in passing yards per game.
