Game Preview: Dairy Night vs San Antonio Gunslingers - May 29, 2026
After a much-needed bye week, the Green Bay Blizzard are back in action, hosting Week 12 action in the IFL against the San Antonio Gunslingers. The game marks the first time the two teams have matched up! Coincidentally, each comes into this game after playing against the Tulsa Oilers. The Blizzard emerged victorious in Tulsa, with a 41-35 win on May 16 before the bye week. Meanwhile, the Gunslingers hosted the Oilers last week and lost a defensive battle, 30-45. The upcoming contest will see some familiar faces return to Green Bay, but make no mistake, with the Gunslingers in town, this game could be a shootout.
To come away with a win in this inaugural matchup, San Antonio will need to look out for key players. On offense, Trevon Alexander has been multifaceted and dangerous. In Green Bay's previous game, Alexander came away with three receiving touchdowns on just four receptions and nearly 100 yards of offense. He has four rushing touchdowns and eight receiving touchdowns this season, making him one of the most prolific scorers on the Blizzard, and someone the Gunslinger defense needs to watch out for. On the opposite side of the ball, the entire defense was named the Rock Solid Fencing De-Fence-Ive Players of the Game. Their ability to rally to the football and create extra opportunities for the Blizzard offense has not gone unnoticed. The team leads the league in fumble recoveries (13), thanks, in part, to DL Ja'Quon Griffin, the league leader in fumble recoveries (3). Green Bay's ability to force turnovers has been a difference maker this year. If the Gunslingers want a chance to win this game, they will have to protect the ball as much as possible.
For the Blizzard, many eyes will be on defensive back Ravarius Rivers. The former Blizzard player won IFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 while leading the league's best defense before heading to the UFL. Now, he plays for the San Antonio Gunslingers and helps to anchor their defense. The team gives up the fewest points per game in the IFL (36). Rivers's three interceptions, six pass break-ups, and familiarity with Green Bay may make him the target of some keepaway while the Blizzard are on offense. Opposite Rivers, QB Fred Payton Jr. is ninth in passing yards per game (122.3) and seventh in rushing yards per game (34.7). His dynamic play can keep the chains moving for San Antonio. The Blizzard defense will need to limit his ability to make plays tomorrow night.
The first matchup between the San Antonio Gunslingers and Green Bay Blizzard is slated for 7 PM (CST) on May 29.
