Game Preview: April 11, 2026
Week 5 has arrived, and the Green Bay Blizzard (3-0) take on the Quad City Steamwheelers (1-2) in a classic rivalry matchup. Despite their record, the Steamwheelers are not pushovers. They have a very talented roster with dangerous players on both sides of the ball. Green Bay, on the other hand, is off to an excellent start and intends to keep its undefeated streak alive. Get your popcorn ready, as every Steamwheelers Blizzard game is electric.
If the Steamwheelers want to get their second win, there are some big-time impact players they will have to look out for on the Blizzard. Starting with the offensive side of the ball, star QB Liam Thompson has been making headlines as he continues to have a consistent year, ranking fourth in passing yards (379) and touchdowns (eight). He has also shown himself to be dangerous in the run game, as he leads the league in rushing yards (143) and touchdowns (seven). The Blizzard has another quarterback who is looking more like an all-around athlete for the team. He led the team in rushing yards with 29 in the last game against Iowa, even adding a touchdown to go along with it. Having two effective runners on this offense is devastating for defenses. Along with Green Bay's rushing attack, wide receiver Draysean Hudson continues his elite season. After an 85-yard, one-touchdown performance last week, he currently ranks second in the IFL in receiving yards with 169 and fourth in receiving touchdowns with three. Together, they create quite the dynamic offense that has been shaking up the league. Shifting to the defensive side of the ball, the 2025 tackle for loss king has not slowed down. Jonathan Ross has been making an impact on this talented defensive front. He currently ranks second in the IFL in tackles for loss with four and a half and fourth in total tackles with 15. His season continues to get better, and he is making a big impact on a Blizzard team that is rolling hot.
Quad City has some impact players who will be playing hard to get their second win of the year. A familiar foe, Daquan Neal, is picking up where he left off. The talented QB leads the league in passing yards (435) and passing touchdowns (11). He also ranks second in rushing yards with 111. Another dangerous weapon on offense is wide receiver Quian Williams. Williams, right now, is on pace to have the triple crown, leading the league in receptions (13), yards (190), and touchdowns (six). When the 'Wheelers are in need, it is no shock who the ball will be thrown to. Shifting to the defensive side of the ball, there is a familiar face who has been haunting opposing quarterbacks. Former Blizzard defensive back Kevin Ransom continues to play well, as his three interceptions tie for league best. A fun reunion for the talented defensive back, as he will be looking to get an interception against his former team.
