UW – Whitewater alum, Matt Behrendt will be returning to the Green Bay Blizzard for the 2017 season. Behrendt will bring back his strong arm, quick feet and quarterback knowledge.  Not only will he return with indoor skills learned in 2016, but he will also bring some additional weight and confidence gained in the offseason.  After speaking to Head Coach Chris Williams, Matt feels comfortable with the offensive wall Coach Williams and his coaching/ scouting staff has signed to February’s training camp.  With more time and protection, Behrendt will be able to continue throwing accurate passes with more and more of those resulting in touchdowns. “Matt performed well as a rookie last year. From a touchdown to interception standpoint, I thought he was outstanding for a first year guy. I think he has a tremendous upside and will only be better in year 2” said Chris Williams when asked about Berhendt coming back for his second year.   Behrendt made a name for himself in his rookie IFL year.  He was the league leader with 63 passing touchdowns (tied by Spokane Empire’s Charles Dowdell). He averaged 177 yards per game and finished the season in second with 2832 yards. Behrendt’s best personal game was June 25th against the Wichita Falls Nighthawks.  He finished with a 50.0% completion rate, 263 passing yards, 8 touchdowns and zero interceptions. The Blizzard scored 75 points, the highest all season in that final game at the Resch Center in front of 4096 fans. Along with Behrendt, Coach Williams has been working hard to bring back lots of talent from 2016. 16 players will be...
