Blizzard Clinch Playoff Spot for 8th Consecutive YearThe Blizzard are currently the second seed in the United Conference.
May 25, 2012 - The Indoor Football League has announced that the Green Bay Blizzard have clinched a spot in the 2012 playoffs. The Blizzard (8-3 United Conference) can guarantee a home playoff game in the first round of the playoffs if they can win the final three games of the regular season. Sioux Falls (10-0 United Conference) and Tri-Cities (10-1 Intense Conference) have also clinched playoff spots. Currently, the Blizzard hold the tiebreaker over Bloomington (8-3) for the #2 seed in the United Conference due to beating the Edge in both match-ups earlier this season. Green Bay's remaining schedule includes a long road trip to Lehigh Valley (4-7) and home games against Reading (2-9) and Wichita (5-5). Bloomington hosts Chicago (5-6) this weekend in a key conference match-up. The Edge travel to Wichita the following week and host Cedar Rapids (3-8) to finish the regular season.
Sioux Falls holds the top spot in the United Conference with an undefeated record. The fourth seed features a tight battle between Chicago, Omaha (5-6) and Lehigh Valley.
The 2012 IFL playoffs will include eight teams (four highest seeds in each conference) and have three rounds of games (Conference Semi-Finals, Conference Finals and United Bowl).
Conference Semi-Finals: #1 seed will host the #4 seed and the #2 seed will host the #3 seed.
Conference Finals: Remaining two teams will play at higher advancing seed's venue.
United Bowl: Higher conference champion hosts lower seeded conference champion.
If the Blizzard earn the #2 seed, they would host the Conference Semi-Final game on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 7:00pm.
